Julie & Julia

2 words - Delicious movie!!!!

Seriously.. I can list down several different reasons why someone should watch this one!
The primary being - Love for FOOD & Cooking!!

I obviously didn't watch it for that! I like to eat most of the times n everything but I am not half passionate about food as the ladies in the movie are! Only wishing I was! ;-)

I wanted to watch it for the another powerful reason in the movie - Meryl Streep..
She is just brilliant....I started liking her work after watching The Devil Wears Prada. And so glad I did. She is a great actress and just soo very delightful to watch! I am just going to put most of her movies on my Netflix queue...Oh and of course, I am going to watch Its Complicated next week..So looking forward to it :-)

So coming back to the movie - its not just about food...Its about this transformation...the journey of these 2 women.....the things they feel about food......the joy they got from cooking......the passion they have!
It is amazing how the director along with the whole cast and crew entwined these 2 stories into a one plot where both lives connect with each other at some point. If not in real time - in spirit!

It was incredible how both the characters of Julia and Julie reflected similarities but it wasn't dramatic in nature..It was very very subtle. Just like the humor depicted in the movie. The actors have done a great job in portraying the real life characters they are playing. They tend to get to the core of the characters..I personally don't know any of the people living or not - but it looked to me as if it must have all happened - years apart from each other - but happened nevertheless. The scenes the cast and crew together created - the recreation of the lives of these 2 women! It was amazing to see how the set director and costume director create 2 different times and show them without any drastic changes on-screen. Kudos to everybody for bringing in all the real-life like situations for us to experience!

I don't need to say - I would like to know more about the original (for the lack of a better word) Julia Child as well as Julie Powell..  Just as the movie depicted, these two sound so phenomenal women who simply loved food. Had this passion toward food. And especially Julia Child - she sounds like she had a great passion to live life to its fullest. Even when being a homemaker she had a zest to start doing "something". Of course she just couldn't pick up anything as she was searching for the thing that she could love whole-heartedly!

Getting back to the most important character of the movie - Meryl Streep - I thought she was brilliant! She has a unique voice in itself..but she dramatically uses a French accent to imitate Julia Child's love for the French world she lived in. To characterize Julia Child, she had to use all the different accessories to give all of us the feeling that she is indeed 6 ft +..Even with a slight awkwardness to the walk she depicted, she can so naturally depict the grace of a lady of those times! Simply superb!!

All in all it was a great movie that touched upon various parts of life apart from Food, even though it was the backbone of the movie - both the love stories revolved around it very tastefully and left impressions on the audience..In spite of the fact that the movie didn't bring a closure like feeling I expected to see - being an ardent Bollywood movie-goer that I am....I loved the movie anyways! I hope to find that 1 thing in my own life myself - that I can passionately do for the rest of my life!! :-)

Must watch if you love Food...and love Life!
