What The Folks

Image
Came across 1 episode of #WhatTheFolks by #DiceMedia on #YouTube while trying to sleep the other day. And I was hooked. After the have-to-share part with friends and family - I searched for other episodes. And realized its actually a series with 2 seasons already hit. What fun it was to watch it from Episode 1-Season 1. And not just fun! Oh My God! Every scene, every incident was sooo relatable. The common normal relationship, the subtle expressions, the sounds of laughter and argument alike! The actors for all given characters are so well chosen - so apt for their roles. The protagonist couple is obviously adorable to the core. Initially I thought like all web series the female is leaning toward showing a bossy and mean attribute - but No.. Eisha Chopra has gelled Anita's strong feminist workaholic traits with, soft and kind daughter/wife/sisterly traits very well. Veer Rajwant Singh looks like the new eligible bachelor, young girls will be swooning on!  He not o...

Once Again...Kuch Bheege Alfaaz

Some people watch movies to fall in love..  Some watch to forget unhappy moments and have fun for those 2+ hours... Some watch to learn how to woo their lovers.. And some also watch to just be able to talk about them in social circles!  For me movies have been like a companion. Never ask me to come or do something with them...but always there whenever I just want to get lost in a plot without thinking something about anything else.  So with this post, I officially revive my sleeping blog! :-D I watched these 2 different love stories in 2 days.. and both of them had just 1 thing to say.. Love Rules!  I might sound like a love-struck 17 year old but trust me its not so..  So I had seen LunchBox and wanted to see Once Again as I heard they were on similar lines...As soon as Shefali Chaya's Insta said its back on Netflix it went to my to-watch list.  A beautiful story line.. with very real characters..real struggles and real ...

Eat…Pray…Love…

Eat…Pray…Love… How simple can life be… Don’t we all wish our lives are just simple like that? Where all we have to do is Eat…Pray…Love!! Of course we do.. Well if not everyday there are some days in our lives when we just want to do that. And there are also days when we just don’t feel like doing anything. Couldn’t help but love the way Julia Roberts put it in Italian - Dolce Far Niente. And today was one of those days when I really enjoyed the sweetness of doing nothing… and then went ahead and enjoyed this evening show with my friends. I had a good time enjoying the scenes from three lovely places, however I would have to say I had much more appetite for these than what I got. The glimpses that I got of each place were so not enough to describe the places as neatly as Elizabeth Gilbert did it herself. And I will have to say this for the entire movie. The movie could not do full justice to the book she has written. I could see the effort Julia Roberts put into the role she pl...

Y.M.I. - Yeh Mera India

YMI.. Yeh Mera India.. The title sounds very very patriotic to any cinema goer.. And within minutes of the movie you start getting the feeling - its way farther from being patriotic! It just isn't.. The commentrator starts to criticize India and the other facts as soon as the movie starts unfolding!  I was almost tempted to get my fiction while shoving this movie in the background.. But I sat a little longer.. Just to see where does it go.. Just to know why is an Indian director being such a critique of our country that has just started boasting of her being shining amongst the developing countries of the nation! And I am glad I did.. Its a nice movie.. Very extreme I must say.. But comes right out and slaps the anti-peace people in our country!  Seriously, you won't get that feeling in the beginning...You start getting the message very very subtly as the movie progresses..and it comes like a bang in front of your face by the time it comes to its last 30 minutes or s...

Ishqiya

There were several reasons that I could list out - why I wanted to watch the movie..the primary being the popular song sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan - Dil to bachcha hai ji...I fell in love with the song the minute I heard it on a video link posted by a friend on Facebook.. One  Sunday morning I & husband were enjoying listening to this song over n over.. we went into discussing how the song would be picturized on Naseeruddin Shah envisioning Vidya Balan..And that piqued my interest to the most.. I was expecting a lot from a movie with such a combination of cast & crew..But my spirits were dampened quite a bit as the movie kept unfolding... I knew that Vishal Bhardwaj hasn't directed but the impression of Omkara lingered on mind anyhow.. I didn't like his Kaminey as well..but that's a different story..  Naseeruddin Shah paired up with Vidya Balan sounded like an enigma which was followed by high expectations..  It will be safe to say -...

3 Idiots..

All is Well...!!!  3 very simple words..but suddenly they have a different enthusiasm ...a different joy to them! Yes! Rajkumar Hirani has spread the magic once again... x When I first heard the title of the movie - I didn't even give it a second thought.. But on finding out that it was based on Chetan Bhagat's - Five Point Someone, I had to see it.. My sisters were coaxing me to read that book when I went to India in 2007..But I didn't get a chance to do so. On my last trip we got 2 of Bhagat's books and I had recently read both..  So really wanted to see how the crew of 3 Idiots had put together the movie..Needless to say, a lot was same & different in the movie. Without getting into the controversy the movie crew & the author was having recently - I would say - the movie was atleast 70% based on the book.. A good adaptation..Lot less subtle than the book..But then which Bollywood movie doesn't need a larger-than-life plot to reach the hear...

Julie & Julia

2 words - Delicious movie!!!! Seriously.. I can list down several different reasons why someone should watch this one! The primary being - Love for FOOD & Cooking!! I obviously didn't watch it for that! I like to eat most of the times n everything but I am not half passionate about food as the ladies in the movie are! Only wishing I was! ;-) I wanted to watch it for the another powerful reason in the movie - Meryl Streep.. She is just brilliant....I started liking her work after watching The Devil Wears Prada. And so glad I did. She is a great actress and just soo very delightful to watch! I am just going to put most of her movies on my Netflix queue...Oh and of course, I am going to watch Its Complicated next week..So looking forward to it :-) So coming back to the movie - its not just about food...Its about this transformation...the journey of these 2 women.....the things they feel about food......the joy they got from cooking......the...
